Desert Wash

Desert Wash
Picketpost Mountain stands tall, east of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The mountain, known for its curiously placed mailbox at its peak containing hiker logbooks for those that navigate the trails, stands 4375 feet above the desert floor and is surrounded by desert ranch land and free range. The mountain gained its unusual name from soldiers in 1870 who nicknamed the mountain “Picket Post” due to its usage as a guard post to protect their camp from attacks.
