Today, I'm going to talk about mixing up your photography. Pull out your box of old photographs, click on your Flickr account and see what your photos look like in comparison to other people's galleries. If you're like most, you'll find that you approach your subjects in much the same way with every shot and therefore end up with photos that look like cookie cutter images from the years before.

Switch up your technique! Try angling the camera when you focus in on your subject. Get down low. I've laid down on the ground, straddled sidewalks, draped myself across railroad tracks and squeezed up against tree trunks to get the shot. If you're up in the tree, be careful, but the bird's eye perspective may make you grin!

Used to approaching situations and your subjects head-on? Well, maybe it is time to shoot them from the side or even from behind. Try shooting into the sun and notice how it creates a cameo effect around your subject! Remember our earlier lesson on ISO settings and use those apertures to create the effect you're after. Most importantly, have fun and use trial and error to show you how to capture the picture YOU want to share with the world!
