The Cologne Cathedral can be viewed behind the much newer Cologne Philharmonie building. The Cathedral, built in the years 1248 - 1473, is a declared World Heritage site and one of Germany’s most visited landmarks with 20,000 visitors viewing it per day. The newer Philharmonie building was opened on September 14, 1986 and offers 400 concerts each year to an average yearly attendance of 600,000 visitors.
